Holiday break

It was good for us to have a break in Tenby, Pembrokeshire last week.

After a wet arrival, the weather improved into a proper summer week (for once!), and our few days there felt like a real holiday.

It was the first time too that i`d ever been on Caldey Island, and by catching one of the first ferries it meant that the island was just so quiet. No traffic or background noise, only the sound of birds and our footsteps.

What struck me was the clarity of the water, and the area deserves it`s Blue Flag status.

A great week.

Falconry

Recently did some photography for a customer carrying out a falconry experience session with Carmarthenshire Falconry at Gelli Aur. As mentioned before, these are private sessions that give the client an opportunity to handle a few birds on the falconry gloves, and fly (on this occasion) a Harris Hawk.

I don`t post any of the personal images, but this male Kestrel was one of my outtakes.

Back to falconry

Later this week i`ll be covering some photography for a falconry customer experience session again, where the flying is private and one-to-one with the falconer. I remain on the periphery, taking photos to remember the experience by.

Set in a quiet area of a country park, and with permission of the landowner, the falconry sessions normally last around 60 - 90 minutes. By adding on the option to have photos taken, the "Experience Day" can be captured on camera, the images I take normally edited and turned around to the client via Dropbox / WeTransfer within 24 hours. (No images of the client flying the birds are ever made public by myself on social media)

If you would like to book a Falconry Experience session with Carmarthenshire Falconry, either contact them directly or if not message me and I will pass your details on.

Airshows

It was good weekend in Swansea, after some initial concern over what the weather might do. The blustery showers crossing Wales steered clear of Swansea Bay, and although there was a stiff breeze both days, it didn`t stop any of the displays from going ahead.

Highlights of the shows were of course the Red Arrows (on Saturday), and the Typhoon (both days). The aircraft and parachutists were good too, but the Reds and the Typhoon are always show-stealers.

The display orders changed slightly, but other highlights were the Starlings, Vampire, Hurricane, Swordfish, Wasp, Wildcat (from the Blackcats), Yak 50, Sea King, and many others. Lots of images to go through.

Missed Church Sunday morning (!), but can`t miss this great annual free event. Great for families too.

Not long until the airshows!

Only a few days to go until the two Wales National Air Shows in Swansea over the weekend of 6th & 7th July.

I always enjoy this free event, but sometimes the weather can scupper things a bit. The online forecasts don`t look too bad (although could be better), but the TV ones seem a bit more dodgy:

This year the Typhoon is in a new livery, to reflect the Second World War / D-Day anniversary, so hoping the weather and light is good.

I`ve spent a lot of time in a bag hide over the last couple of months, standing in Swansea Bay should blow the cobwebs away.
